Water apple( Syzygium samarangense) is a tropical tree growing to 12 m tall, with evergreen leaves. The flowers are white, with four petals and numerous stamens. The fruit is a bell-shaped, edible berry, with colors ranging from white, pale green, or green to red, purple, or crimson, to deep purple or even black, fruit size will be 4–6 cm long in some varieties.
Water Apple is not actually an apple. It is a tropical fruit that grows in south-east Asia, including southern India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. In Malaya and Indonesia, it will give two crops a year. Thailand variety water apples are big sizes and very sweet and delicious, while some varieties can be relatively round, others are somewhat pear-shaped, wide at the bottom, and very narrow at the top.
This variety is very common in our place. It is in rose color when ripe and can be grown by seed. The seedlings will start fruiting within two years, so no need to plant grafted plants. It is very much liked by kids and the plant is small and will have plenty of fruit even the tree is small. In a year more than one time, it will fruit.
